Okay, so I saw this “clouds nyt crossword” thing trending and thought, “Why not?” I’m no crossword expert, but I do enjoy a good puzzle, and I like learning new things, figured I’d give it a shot and document my whole, probably clumsy, attempt.
Diving In Headfirst (and Maybe Drowning a Little)
First, I googled “clouds nyt crossword” to even figure out what I was dealing with. It appeared to be referring to clues related to cloud types from the New York Times crossword puzzle. I Love New York Times, and I’m always trying their crossword, even though I’m not good at it!
I found the day’s puzzle on the NYT website (or wherever you usually access it). I can’t give you the specific puzzle ’cause those are, you know, copyrighted and all that,So, here is my own crossword puzzle.
The Actual Puzzle Attempt
I started by scanning the clues, looking for anything obviously cloud-related. I wish I had found easy ones.
- Some words,maybe I can use “cumulus”? Or “stratus”? Ugh, I needed to check how many letters they were.
- Then, I saw another clue,it looks like “cirrus”, I think…
I filled in a few other answers I was more confident about, hoping the crossing letters would help. For example, if a cloud-related word crossed with, say, a word like “APPLE,” and the crossing letter was a “P,” I’d have a better idea of which cloud word fit.
For the ones I was really stuck on, I confess, I used a crossword solver website.I typed in the clue and the number of letters, and it gave me a bunch of *? Maybe. But I’m learning, right?
Slowly but surely, I started making progress. It was like a jigsaw puzzle, each word helping me with the others. Some of the “aha!” moments when I finally got a tricky clue were super satisfying.
Final Thoughts (and My Score, Probably Low)
I didn’t finish the whole crossword, not even close. My brain started to hurt, but it will definitely make me remember those clouds’ names in the future!And, I learned a few new vocabulary words, which is always a win. I think I spent about 20 minutes staring at the grid before my eyes started to cross.
It was fun, though. I’ll probably try another one tomorrow, even if I have to “cheat” a little (or a lot). Maybe I’ll even get a streak going!
